Composed for the 450th birth anniversary of Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa. The work blends renaissance textures with fugal writing and newer modalities, inspired by Gesualdo's masterful counterpoint. It sets Torquato Tasso's poem celebrating spring in a pastoral setting with dancing nymphs and shepherds, singing birds, and murmuring rivers.
