Detaily

In this symphony, the composer challenged himself with a formal structure based on the golden mean, creating what he calls a "rocket sonata". The first movement uses golden proportions to determine both macro and micro-level formal divisions, with sections A and B undergoing permutations (A'B' → A''B'') while independent sections ABCDE develop simultaneously at their golden mean points, culminating in multiple sections sounding together at the climax. The second movement transfers this diagram into mirrored, vertically-oriented visual rockets that determine timbral chronology and structure. It opens with an a cappella chorale based on Alexander Pope's Ode On Solitude, followed by distant variations on the ancient Bohemian chorale Hospodine, pomiluj ny (Kyrie, eleison), one of Europe's oldest known melodies. The work employs modal pitch selections and orchestrated variations of "Krleš!" as a call for human understanding and solidarity.
